Styled Wedding Shoot at Erickson Farmstead - Isanti, MN

Tucked away in rural Isanti, MN, the Erickson Farmstead is a cozy and rustic home in a world of its own. An hour outside of the Twin Cities, it offers couples an opportunity to have a destination-style wedding at a unique venue without the huge travel expenses.

Purchased by the Erickson Family in 1893 and noted in the Minnesota Historical Society as a representation of prosperity in the early twentieth century, this family farm has a rich and quaint atmosphere.** The property was recently purchased by Dennis and Julie Davis in 2018 in hopes of creating a whimsical wedding and gatherings venue (mission accomplished!).

I was lucky enough to be invited to this winter holiday themed wedding shoot by Terri of Uy-Lennon Floral (who provided the greenery and bouquets pictured) and Christina of Dos Goats Plans, a wedding planner.

Special thanks to Dennis and Julie of Erickson Farmstead for hosting us, Katrina Widener of Katrina Widener Life Coaching for modeling.

Deadhead Love

“Fly on those wings of love, fly up, fly home” - Grateful Dead, The Stranger

On a rainy Saturday in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, friends and family gathered to celebrate Rob & Lisa in an intimate cabin setting. A lifetime of friendship and deep-seeded love from their childhood brought them back together again (finally!)

This hits me personally, as Lisa is my mom! It was truly a gift to be a part of this magical evening.

“Well maybe I’ve got no star to spare, or anything fine or even rare,
only if you let me be your world, could I ever give this world to you.
could I ever give this world to you.” - Grateful Dead, If i Had The World to Give

Special thanks to Tina of McKenzie Botanicals in Maggie Valley in providing the beautiful blooms we arranged into whimsical bouquets!

Twin Cities Wedding & Event Networking

Highlights and “drama” from today’s TCWEP Networking Event at the Delta Hotels by Marriot, North East Minneapolis! Muddy Paws Cheesecake, delicious Pad Thai & Lo Mein, “Potty Banks” and more!

MORE PHOTOS TO COME SOON!

It was an intimate meeting for October - with delicious food, a beautiful venue, and close colleagues!

Katie & Mitch are gettin' hitched

With soil from both homes, water from the river in-between, and a love that will blossom a lifetime, Katie & Mitch planted a tree as their unifying ceremony. Their vows and love story, (as grade-school sweethearts), is just as sweet as their wedding day. A forest ceremony and whimsical barn reception were a perfect fit for these two! Who said “cheesy” had to be a bad thing?

A Rooftop Reveal

Would you believe that in the middle of a concrete jungle, Ary & Jeff found a quiet secret garden for their wedding ceremony? The rooftop of the Crowne Plaza Northstar Minneapolis provided a scenic backdrop with a mixture of city life and whimsy - and these two brought the romance!

Keeping with tradition, Ary and Jeff decided to wait until the walk down the aisle to see each other for the first time. Jeff's reaction is breathtaking! Untraditionally though, Jeff included his 5 year old son as his Best Man, and 2 year old son as the Ring Bearer... too cute!

Special thanks to Complete Weddings & Events for matching me with this amazing couple!

The Element of Surprise!

Hannah & Marc added a blindfold to the traditional reveal before the ceremony, which only made their first look more sweet. Telling the story of a couple on their wedding day involves capturing moments just like this one!

Queen Copper Mining & Offbeat Love

A couple years ago, Kat and Trevor migrated from city life in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the dry heat of rural Arizona. After acclimating to the desert and somewhat off-the-grid lifestyle, they decided to make their intentions known in a destination wedding! Bisbee, AZ is known for its days as a mining town, as well as its relaxed atmosphere and eclectic sights - the perfect place for a vibrant and offbeat wedding.

The Southwest feel of their ceremony at the Star Chevrolet and reception at The Courtyard succeeded at embracing a vibrant party in an intimate setting, complete with close friends and family.

As a note: Kat is a friend of mine and I functioned as a guest at this wedding with permission from the bride & groom to photograph the event. I was not the hired photographer, nor was I the main photographer. I simply love what I do and enjoyed being a spectator to Kat & Trevor's beautiful day.

Congats again, Kat & Trevor! All the love <3 <3 <3

Steampunk Summer Wedding

Sam & Michael blended their Steampunk style with the rustic feel of an outdoor wedding in Summer 2017. Sam worked tirelessly to create cog and sprocket laden details to create an authentic feel to this splendid clockwork scene.

The Art of Wedding Photography

Photographing at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis has been one of my goals since I began shooting 8+ years ago. A friend and fellow photographer, Heidi Garrido of HM Photography, recommended clients Kaitlin & Steve and it was a match made in modern art heaven!

Thank you to Kaitlin & Steve for sharing their day, Evan Sowder my second photographer, Terri of Uy-Lennon Floral Design, The Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens, Heidi M, Garrido, and Frazier Benya Cake Design.

Wild about Como

Monica and Eric's Summer wedding at St. Paul's Como Zoo and Conservatory have me wild about this venue. If you're looking for a bright, lush, off-beat wedding venue (with a real-life sloth mascot to boot), this venue is for you!

Special thanks to Monica & Eric, for being an amazing couple to work with, Como Zoo & Conservatory, Lancer Catering, Complete Weddings & Events, and the Commons Hotel Minneapolis.
