It was the quintessential perfect fall day when I joined Briana, Adam, and their furbaby, Winter, at Lake Harriet for a family session. Hues of golden yellow and orange illuminated the scene.
Tucked away in rural Isanti, MN, the Erickson Farmstead is a cozy and rustic home in a world of its own. An hour outside of the Twin Cities, it offers couples an opportunity to have a destination-style wedding at a unique venue without the huge travel expenses.
Purchased by the Erickson Family in 1893 and noted in the Minnesota Historical Society as a representation of prosperity in the early twentieth century, this family farm has a rich and quaint atmosphere.** The property was recently purchased by Dennis and Julie Davis in 2018 in hopes of creating a whimsical wedding and gatherings venue (mission accomplished!).
I was lucky enough to be invited to this winter holiday themed wedding shoot by Terri of Uy-Lennon Floral (who provided the greenery and bouquets pictured) and Christina of Dos Goats Plans, a wedding planner.
Thanks for stopping by!

With soil from both homes, water from the river in-between, and a love that will blossom a lifetime, Katie & Mitch planted a tree as their unifying ceremony. Their vows and love story, (as grade-school sweethearts), is just as sweet as their wedding day. A forest ceremony and whimsical barn reception were a perfect fit for these two! Who said “cheesy” had to be a bad thing?
Stop by the Minnesota Renaissance Festival this Sunday, August 26th 1pm-3pm for a special wedding fair, geared toward couples looking to get married on the festival grounds. I've had the opportunity to photograph at the fair a couple of times, and I can't wait for more!
Stephanie and Colin tied the knot at the King's Arbor in 2012, and Dana & Daryl exchanged vows at the Chapel Garden in 2015. I've picked a few of my personal favorites to share!
Beth & Mike's love story "begins in Minneapolis," so it only seemed fitting that I met them for their engagement at the historic Stone Arch Bridge, at the heart of the city. As a special challenge, they asked if I could recreate a photo of Mike's grandparents. "Challenge, accepted!"
Would you believe that in the middle of a concrete jungle, Ary & Jeff found a quiet secret garden for their wedding ceremony? The rooftop of the Crowne Plaza Northstar Minneapolis provided a scenic backdrop with a mixture of city life and whimsy - and these two brought the romance!
Keeping with tradition, Ary and Jeff decided to wait until the walk down the aisle to see each other for the first time. Jeff's reaction is breathtaking! Untraditionally though, Jeff included his 5 year old son as his Best Man, and 2 year old son as the Ring Bearer... too cute!
Special thanks to Complete Weddings & Events for matching me with this amazing couple!
May 2018 - Spring has finally come to Minnesota and the warm sunlight and budding plants are everywhere! Christina & Albert took advantage of the beautiful weather as we explored the Weisman Art Museum and Victory Memorial Parkway. Their furry companion, Luna made an appearance too!
I enjoyed catching the early Spring light (done entirely in camera) through the trees at St. Anthony Main and Stone Arch Bridge before following Becky & Greg home for a casual date night. Becky was able to borrow Keri Noble's velvet ribbon dress, beautifully crafted by local designer Tess Ross for the Go Red for Women fundraiser.
Later that night we went back to their loft to make pizza, drink wine, and cozy up on the couch!
P.S. This year I've shot more snowy engagement sessions than ever, and I LOVE it! I also love that Becky sought out designer Tess Ross to borrow this beautiful velvet ribbon dress (recently worn by Keri Noble at the 2018 Go Red For Women Fashion Show)! Of course, Greg borrowed a red velvet bow-tie from dad to match!
Teegan and Jenny incorporated a date into their engagement session, which included playing video games at home, visiting a local brewery, and strolling along the Stone Arch Bridge at dusk. Despite the cold temperatures, this winter session leaves me feeling extra cozy.
Julian & Isabel joined me in Downtown Minneapolis for a Summer Engagement Session. Shots include the Guthrie and the historic Stone Arch Bridge. I love this city!
Brandon and Erin explored Ritter Farm Park in Lakeville, MN for their fall engagement session. I got to know them (and their two pups!) better as we meandered through the autumn foliage.
Sam & Michael blended their Steampunk style with the rustic feel of an outdoor wedding in Summer 2017. Sam worked tirelessly to create cog and sprocket laden details to create an authentic feel to this splendid clockwork scene.
A whirlwind evening of class, romance, and excitement: Molly & Ryan represent everything I want in my clients. Their New Year's Eve wedding in Minneapolis features The Rogue Buddha Art Gallery, The Renaissance Minneapolis Depot Hotel, the recently lit Grain Belt Sign on the Hennepin Ave Bridge, St. Anthony Main, and Vic's Restaurant.
Photographing at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis has been one of my goals since I began shooting 8+ years ago. A friend and fellow photographer, Heidi Garrido of HM Photography, recommended clients Kaitlin & Steve and it was a match made in modern art heaven!
Thank you to Kaitlin & Steve for sharing their day, Evan Sowder my second photographer, Terri of Uy-Lennon Floral Design, The Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens, Heidi M, Garrido, and Frazier Benya Cake Design.
Monica and Eric's Summer wedding at St. Paul's Como Zoo and Conservatory have me wild about this venue. If you're looking for a bright, lush, off-beat wedding venue (with a real-life sloth mascot to boot), this venue is for you!
Special thanks to Monica & Eric, for being an amazing couple to work with, Como Zoo & Conservatory, Lancer Catering, Complete Weddings & Events, and the Commons Hotel Minneapolis.
