I love these moments captured of Shannon and Tim because unless you know what you’re looking at, you may just be convinced that these photos were taken on a tropical island! Truth be told this lush landscape lies in Minneapolis, MN at Minnehaha Falls. Shannon, a native Minnesotan, and Tim, an Aussie, met abroad and have travelled the world together. With a wedding planned in Hawaii, they wanted their engagement pictures to match the excitement of their day, but still have elements of home.
It was the quintessential perfect fall day when I joined Briana, Adam, and their furbaby, Winter, at Lake Harriet for a family session. Hues of golden yellow and orange illuminated the scene.
Tucked away in rural Isanti, MN, the Erickson Farmstead is a cozy and rustic home in a world of its own. An hour outside of the Twin Cities, it offers couples an opportunity to have a destination-style wedding at a unique venue without the huge travel expenses.
Purchased by the Erickson Family in 1893 and noted in the Minnesota Historical Society as a representation of prosperity in the early twentieth century, this family farm has a rich and quaint atmosphere.** The property was recently purchased by Dennis and Julie Davis in 2018 in hopes of creating a whimsical wedding and gatherings venue (mission accomplished!).
I was lucky enough to be invited to this winter holiday themed wedding shoot by Terri of Uy-Lennon Floral (who provided the greenery and bouquets pictured) and Christina of Dos Goats Plans, a wedding planner.
Thanks for stopping by!

Beth & Mike's love story "begins in Minneapolis," so it only seemed fitting that I met them for their engagement at the historic Stone Arch Bridge, at the heart of the city. As a special challenge, they asked if I could recreate a photo of Mike's grandparents. "Challenge, accepted!"
